December is when our warehouse in Oshawa empties fastest. Office parties take over boardrooms and banquet halls, families squeeze a second table into the living room, and towns set up tree lightings and holiday markets in the cold. We supply the pieces that make each of those work, from a few extra chairs for Christmas dinner to heaters and lighting for an outdoor market. The easiest way to change how an office feels is to move the furniture. Cocktail tables and bar stools turn a boardroom or warehouse floor into a standing reception where people actually mix. A foldable portable bar gives drinks a proper home instead of a desk in the corner. Add a couple of uplights on the walls and turn off the overheads, and the room looks nothing like a Tuesday.

For the part of the night with speeches or awards, a PA system with a microphone helps everyone hear. Spin the Wheel and a raffle drum are popular for gift draws and door prizes. If the party is at a hall instead, our 8 ft tables and crossback chairs suit a seated dinner.

Most families already have one good table. The trouble starts when the guest list hits 16. An 8 ft rectangular table fits end to end with your own, and a long tablecloth over both makes them look like one. A kids table with a high chair and booster seat keeps the little ones close without crowding the main table.

Chairs, tables and linens can be picked up free from our Oshawa location. Only the legs fold on our regular tables, so bring a large van or truck if you're collecting them yourself. A hot drinks station does more for a winter party than almost anything else. A 14.5 litre hot water dispenser keeps water ready for hot chocolate, tea and cider mixes, and a 100-cup coffee urn handles the coffee crowd after dinner. Both come empty, so you add the drinks.

Chafing dishes keep a turkey dinner or a catered buffet warm. Each one comes with pans and two fuel cans, and each can lasts about two and a half hours. A chocolate fountain makes a good dessert centrepiece for family events, and champagne flutes with gold or black charger plates dress the table for a formal dinner. Public Christmas events in the GTA are almost always outdoors, often after dark, and usually cold. Visitors need somewhere warm to stand, so a few patio heaters near the stage, the hot chocolate table and the line for Santa make a real difference. Patio heaters are for open outdoor areas, and a filled 20 lb propane tank can be added to the order. String lights along the market stalls and flood lights over the walkways help people find their way once the sun goes down around 4:45.

Power is the part organizers often underestimate. Heaters with fans, lights, a PA and a popcorn machine add up quickly, and a park rarely has outlets where you need them. A generator and 100 ft extension cords solve that. For Santa's arrival, a red carpet with gold stanchions makes a proper entrance, and our outdoor cold spark machine gives the tree lighting countdown a big finish.

Not everyone wants to dance at a work party, and kids get restless once the presents are open. Giant games give people something to gather around.

The one guests line up for is our reaction ring, also called falling sticks. Sticks drop at random from the ring and players try to catch as many as they can before they hit the floor. Rounds take seconds, so a line moves quickly, and it's easy to run as a department against department leaderboard with a prize at the end of the night.

Giant Jenga and Giant Kerplunk build tension slowly and get loud near the end. Giant Guess Who and Giant Yahtzee are easy for mixed ages. Every Christmas party ends up with a group photo, so give it a good background. Backdrop panels with curtain string lights behind them make a simple, warm setup. A balloon garland in red, green or gold frames it nicely, and custom vinyl lettering can add your company name or a family greeting. The same setup works as Santa's corner at a community breakfast or a school event.
