Diwali rentals for homes, halls and community events
For a lot of the families we work with, Diwali is the busiest week of the year. Dinners run long, the guest list grows a day or two before, and the house or hall has to look bright. We rent the tables, chairs, lights, catering gear and sound that make a Diwali party easier to host, whether it's 20 relatives in a finished basement or a community celebration with a few hundred guests. Many Sikh families mark Bandi Chhor Divas on the same day, and the same setups work just as well for those gatherings.
Lighting is the part guests remember
Diwali is the festival of lights, so the lighting deserves some thought. String lights along a fence or across a backyard tent give a warm glow with very little setup. Curtain string lights make an easy backdrop behind a puja table or a family photo spot. In a hall, uplights wash a plain wall in colour, and warm amber or gold suits the night well.
If you're lighting diyas or candles, keep them on a stable surface away from linens, curtains and tent walls. Many halls have their own rules about open flames, so it's worth checking before the day.

Seating for a big family dinner
Diwali dinners tend to grow, so count your confirmed guests and add about ten percent. Our 8 ft rectangular tables seat 8 to 10 and line up neatly in a basement, garage or long hall. 6 ft round tables also seat 8 to 10 and suit a hall where people move between tables to visit. A kids table keeps the younger cousins together and away from the buffet line.
White folding chairs are the practical pick for large counts. Chiavari chairs dress up a hall dinner if you want it to feel more formal. Chairs, tables and linens can be picked up free from our Oshawa location, or we can deliver and collect them. Setup and takedown are available for an extra fee. See chair and table rentals in Brampton for more on table sizes.

Keeping the food hot and the chai going
Most hosts cook for days, and the hard part is keeping everything warm once guests arrive. Chafing dishes hold curries, dal and rice at serving temperature on a buffet line. Each one comes with pans and two fuel cans. One can lasts about two and a half hours, so for a long evening it's worth adding extra fuel when you book.
A 100-cup coffee urn keeps hot water ready for chai all night, and an 8 litre beverage dispenser handles lassi, juice or water. We also rent plates, bowls and glassware. Just rinse them with water before they come back. You'll find the full list on our catering equipment rentals in Mississauga page.

Music, dancing and a bit of sparkle
Once dinner is done, the music usually starts. A PA system with a microphone covers announcements, a few words before the puja and a bhangra playlist later on. A dance floor gives people a proper space in a hall or under a tent instead of crowding the living room.
For an outdoor moment, like a family entrance in the driveway or the first dance in a backyard, our cold spark machine throws a fountain of sparks without fireworks. It's for outdoor use only, so plan it for outside the house or hall.

Games and extras for community Diwali events
Temple, cultural association and community hall celebrations bring together all ages, and people stay for hours. A few games give kids and adults something to do between the puja, the food and the performances. These ones all work indoors on a hall floor:
- Reaction ring (falling sticks). Sticks drop at random and players try to catch them. It draws a crowd quickly and works for every age.
- Giant Jenga and table-size 4 in a row. Easy to learn and good for families playing together.
- Giant Plinko and Spin the Wheel. Both are handy for prize draws or sponsor giveaways. A raffle drum works for the door prize.
- Ring toss and corn hole. Simple carnival-style games that keep younger kids busy.
- Giant Tetris Tumble. A quieter game for a lounge corner.
For larger events, popcorn and cotton candy machines add a fair-day feel, and they run on standard outlets. A podium and a PA system cover the speeches and cultural program. Extra garbage bins near the food tables help a lot when a few hundred people are eating. Face painting and a magic and bubble show also keep the kids happy while adults visit.

Hosting outside in November
Diwali usually falls in late October or early November, when evenings in the GTA can be cold and wet. If you're putting up a tent in the backyard for extra guests, plan for sidewalls, a patio heater or two, and plastic flooring if the lawn is soft. Our team installs the tents and will contact you if severe weather makes the install unsafe. More detail on sizes is on our tent rentals in Brampton page.
One small thing hosts often forget: everyone arrives in a winter jacket. A double coat rack by the door saves the spare bed from a mountain of coats.
