Marquee and pole tents give a larger group one covered area for dinner and speeches. Our crew installs and secures each tent and returns to remove it.

For a smaller group, a canopy tent is the cheaper option. Our canopies come in 10x10, 10x15 and 10x20, and we can join them together for a longer covered area, though joined canopies aren’t recommended if rain is likely. Townhome backyards in newer parts of Markham usually suit a canopy better than a large tent. Some of the smaller canopies can also be picked up for free from our Oshawa location.

If the tent can’t be staked, for example on asphalt, concrete or interlock, we hold it down with concrete weights or water barrels. Which one we use depends on the forecast and the site: in an open area concrete weights are a must, while a backyard sheltered by houses may only need water barrels, which usually cost less.

Markham has a lot of business parks, and their parking lots work well for company events.

Planning a tent in Markham

• If we’ll be staking into the ground, request free underground utility locates from Ontario One Call before your install date.

• Larger tents may need a permit from the City of Markham. Check with them first; we’ll supply the tent documents they ask for.

• For business park events, confirm the parking area and timing with your property manager.

• Measure your yard before you call. Townhome lots can be narrower than they look.

• Parks like Toogood Pond in Unionville are popular. Check with the City of Markham before planning a tent in any park.
