Hard surface setups in Newcastle
If the tent can’t be staked, for example on asphalt, concrete or interlock, we hold it down with concrete weights or water barrels. Which one we use depends on the forecast and the site: in an open area concrete weights are a must, while a backyard sheltered by houses may only need water barrels, which usually cost less.
Lakeside homes at Port of Newcastle often have open exposure, which usually means concrete weights rather than water barrels.
