Tell us how many guests you expect and what’s happening under the tent: dinner, a buffet, a DJ, dancing. From there we’ll suggest a tent and any add-ons that make sense. We set up for weddings, birthdays, family reunions, celebrations of life, fundraisers and corporate events, and we’re fully insured.

For bigger gatherings, a marquee or pole tent gives you one open, covered space for dinner, speeches and dancing. Our crew installs it, levels and secures it, then comes back afterwards to take it down. In Oshawa these are booked most often for backyard weddings, showers, milestone birthdays and staff barbecues.

For a smaller group, a canopy tent is the cheaper option. Our canopies come in 10x10, 10x15 and 10x20, and we can join them together for a longer covered area, though joined canopies aren’t recommended if rain is likely. They give guests shade and some cover from light rain at birthdays, open houses and barbecues. You can pick up some of the smaller canopies for free from our Oshawa location.

If the tent can’t be staked, for example on asphalt, concrete or interlock, we hold it down with concrete weights or water barrels. Which one we use depends on the forecast and the site. In an open area, concrete weights are a must. In a backyard sheltered by houses, water barrels may be enough and usually cost less.

That means a driveway, a church parking lot or a business patio works just as well as a lawn.

Add-ons for your tent

You can add sidewalls, plastic flooring or artificial turf, a dance floor, string lights, uplights or flood lights. For comfort, we also rent heaters for cool evenings, fans for hot afternoons, and coolers.

Planning a tent in Oshawa

• If we’ll be staking into the ground, request free underground utility locates from Ontario One Call before your install date.

• Larger tents may need a permit from the City of Oshawa. Check with the city first; we’ll supply the tent documents they ask for.

• Sidewalls help a lot on windy or wet days, and heaters make May and October evenings comfortable.

• Summer weekends go first, so book several weeks ahead for a wedding.

• The City of Oshawa takes group picnic bookings at the Lakeview Park waterfront. Ask the city about tents before planning one there.
