Ajax is a short drive west from our Oshawa base, so we are in town most weekends during the summer. Whether your event is in Pickering Village, near the lakeshore or in one of the newer neighbourhoods up north, we will install the tent and come back for it afterwards.

A lot of the Ajax events we cover are large family celebrations: engagements, religious ceremonies, milestone birthdays and backyard weddings. Let us know how many people are coming and how you want the space used, and we will help you plan it.

For groups over 20, a marquee or pole tent keeps everyone together under one roof. Our crew handles the full install and takedown. If you are planning a big family event with a buffet and a DJ, tell us early so we can size the tent with room for both.

For a smaller group, a canopy tent is the cheaper option. Our canopies come in 10x10, 10x15 and 10x20, and we can join them together for a longer covered area, though joined canopies aren’t recommended if rain is likely. Ajax backyards are often compact, and a canopy is usually the easiest fit for a birthday or a shaded food table. Some of the smaller canopies can also be picked up for free from our Oshawa location.

If the tent can’t be staked, for example on asphalt, concrete or interlock, we hold it down with concrete weights or water barrels. Which one we use depends on the forecast and the site: in an open area concrete weights are a must, while a backyard sheltered by houses may only need water barrels, which usually cost less.

This is handy for townhomes and semis in Ajax where the backyard is too small for the tent you need.

For bigger family events we often pair a tent with a dance floor and string lights. We also rent sidewalls, plastic flooring, artificial turf, uplights, flood lights, heaters, fans and coolers.

Planning a tent in Ajax

• If we’ll be staking into the ground, request free underground utility locates from Ontario One Call before your install date.

• Larger tents may need a permit from the Town of Ajax. Check with them first; we’ll supply the tent documents they ask for.

• If your yard is small, measure it before you call. Knowing the open space helps us rule out sizes quickly.

• Waterfront areas near the lake get more wind, so plan on sidewalls for evening events there.
