Our warehouse is in Oshawa, a few minutes from the Whitby line, so getting a tent to Port Whitby, Williamsburg or Taunton North is a short trip for us. We help you choose a size, put it up the day before or the morning of, and take it down when you are finished.

Most Whitby bookings we see are backyard weddings, graduation parties and summer reunions, plus a fair number of church and school fundraisers. Give us your guest count and a rough plan for the day and we will suggest a tent that fits your yard.

Whitby is one of our busiest delivery areas. We’ve delivered rentals for events at West Lynde Public School and Ormiston Public School.

Once you are past 20 guests, a marquee or pole tent gives everyone one covered space for dinner and dancing. Our crew installs it, levels it and secures it properly. Whitby lots vary a lot in size, so we usually ask for a photo or a quick sketch of the yard before recommending a footprint.

For a smaller group, a canopy tent is the cheaper option. Our canopies come in 10x10, 10x15 and 10x20, and we can join them together for a longer covered area, though joined canopies aren’t recommended if rain is likely. They work well for a birthday in the backyard, a garage sale cover or a shaded spot at a team barbecue. Some of the smaller canopies can also be picked up for free from our Oshawa location.

If the tent can’t be staked, for example on asphalt, concrete or interlock, we hold it down with concrete weights or water barrels. Which one we use depends on the forecast and the site: in an open area concrete weights are a must, while a backyard sheltered by houses may only need water barrels, which usually cost less.

Church lots, school yards and business parking areas around Whitby are all fair game for a tent.

Sidewalls are worth adding for anything near the lake, where the wind picks up in the evening. We also rent plastic flooring, artificial turf, a dance floor, string lights, uplights, flood lights, heaters, fans and coolers.

Planning a tent in Whitby

• If we’ll be staking into the ground, request free underground utility locates from Ontario One Call before your install date.

• Larger tents may need a permit from the Town of Whitby. Check with them first; we’ll supply the tent documents they ask for.

• Port Whitby and the waterfront can be breezy. Sidewalls and the right anchoring make a big difference there.

• June and September are the busiest wedding months, so book a few weeks ahead if your date falls in either.
